The last couple of weeks I've been getting the 'bong' then HDC fault, Engine System Fault, Suspension Lowered and the big F. This has been happening intermittently.
2 weeks ago it went into the local indy. Their diagnostic machine (Bosch) picked up one error code of P0087 - Fuel pressure system/system pressure too low. They have replaced the fuel filter and all was well for about a week. This last week I've had the same bong and error messages a few times - twice today.
Car is booked into the garage on Tuesday, but what to try next?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thats what I was thinking...... I've searched on here and some have stripped and cleaned the pump/filter within the pump. Is this worth a try? Or best to go for full new unit (looks to be very expensive!)?

A genuine pump is around £400
I'd be surprised if TLO could get any where near the Euro parts price. You guys are gonna be busier than a test bench in a plunger factory!

The genuine one used to be about 110 quid, but vwent up recently to over 400 quid. On mine the low fuel rail pressure message was the fuel pressure valve, which is part of the HPF. Over 600 quid from LR. 325 from Carwoods.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you diagnose the fuel pressure valve? If that code just indicates fuel pressure, did you start with the basics and work your way up?

Because on mine it was intermitant, and from what I and my indi seemed to find was that if the in tank pump fails, that's it, its dead, so no running at all. I did change the fuel filter first, to see if it was that, but as it had only had a new one in Feb, I was pretty sure that wasn't the cause.

Update: Went out in the car this morning. All was fine on the 6 mile journey there, but coming back limp mode every 2 minutes!
Called RAC out who have just been. Error codes showing up are P0087 Fuel rail pressure too low and P2290 injection control pressure. There were also 5 comms failure codes although he hasn't given me the codes for these.
Need to arrange recovery for Monday. Just need to decide if its going straight to the Indy or main dealer first for a diagnostics.

Hi,
I had very similar symptoms with a U2023 code. On replacing the fuel filter the problem improved but didn't disappear and the car started stalling when crawling at low revs. Have since run one bottle of Wynns Gold through the tank and have another ready to go and haven't had any issue for a few weeks now.
