The Good Lady has had enough of the D3 |
|
My run of bad luck with reliability problems with the D3 has reached a state where the good lady has told me you won't be buying another Land Rover. When you replace the D3 it won't be another one she says.
My heart says stay with the Marque but the head tells me enough is enough.
To be honest none of the problems (yet) have completely immobilised us but the D3 has had so many visits to the dealer to fix warnings and lost off road function that I have no trust in the D3 anymore. When will it stop working and cause us big trouble? I know if it happens then my D3 will be gone immediately because the good lady is only just putting up with the trouble at this very moment.
The latest problem is a "Suspension Fault - normal height only". Well you might think what is the problem with that well the first thing that comes to mind is that I can't go 4WD'ing because I cannot raise the suspension. I'll be dropping it to the dealer tomorrow to look into the fault. Hopefully they can fix it straight away.
So the D3 is not even 2 years old and the wife is sick of it and has no trust in it anymore. I'm not a whinger and I think I've put up with these niggling problems for a long time and I'm so embarrased to tell anyone at work that I'll be in late tomorrow because I have to ......
I didn't even want to tell the wife that I needed to drop the D3 in. When I said I have to leave early in the morning (7am) because I had a meeting in the city at 10am she couldn't work out why I had to leave at 7am for a 10am meeting Well I had to tell her I had drop the D3 into the dealer. Then she started with the above comments
Bye bye D3 probably next year once 3 years is up.
There will be an ARB BB, 5 * 17" Performance wheels and Cooper STT's for sale and a Tradesman roof rack for sale.
Sorry guys but what can I say but I'm looking for a new set of wheels which is somewhat more reliable in 2008. Toyota anyone

TDV8 have a few problems which LR haven't yet fixed. The main one being that you need to top the coolant up every 2 weeks!

Ditch the Finance Manager Not a chance.
Anyway the Dealer fixed the D3 and replaced the compressor.
Let's hope there are no more problems but Women are like elephants who never forget.

Take her for a drive to a romantic spot. Have champagne and nibbles, with the Disco silhoutted by the sunset. Then take her out to dinner. She has to associate the D3 with love!
(and hopefully you won't have to ring LR Assist on the night! ) Have a nice day!

Thanks guys for the idea and a great one at that. It reminds me when the missus and I were going out (many moons ago) but a 6 year old sitting in the back with us isn't my idea of romantic

Chris,
The "boys" can have a "chat" with your hugs'n'kisses when we are out in the remote bush next month...
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

When there's room in my D3 for 7,
Climb in here Joe we'll soon be flying,
I can go just as fast with 7.

The boss at home says that it is time for the D3 to go! |
|
PCH. I think that I might have found the answer:-
The "boss"drives the D3 because she likes it and there is no point in arguing. Being of the female persuasion, unless it stops dead and refuses to go, then issues such as the suspension falling tend to be in the category of: "yes, I was wondering why the spare wheel had been ripped off and the ride was so bumpy!"
On my part, I cannot get frustrated with the D3 as I do not get to drive often enough to worry about the faults.
Last, but certainly not least, if I do contact the dealer and report a fault, without fail they tell me that there is no fault and that any technicial bulletin I am quoting does not exist! Arguing with them is futile!

Chris,
since yours is one of the first builds in Oz (mine is a Apr 05 build), did you go through the suspension compressor saga until it was replaced with the Jan '06 model compressor ? or is this the first time you've had the issue ? (just can't seem to remember if you went through it previously ... i was in and out for nearly a year before the beast has settled down nicely ...)
Cheers,
