Split charge on D4 with Stop-start. Use stop start battery??
Could I just use a meatier battery in place of the teeny stop-start battery and use that as an auxiliary battery for powering fridges, trackers, inverters and suchlike.
The other option is to put an Optima Yellow top or similar in the passenger side boot void.D1 300Tdi - gone

think if you fit a split charge kit it wont matter if it is stop start or not as the solinoid will just turn on and off as the car starts and stops
although you might wear the solinoid out quicker Discovery 3 - Black SE with HSE upgrade

For a stop-start vehicle and newer ones with smart alternators I’d use a dc-dc 12v charger rather than a traditional split charge system. Redarc is a leading manufacturer but cheaper alternatives are available. Various amperage versions also available depending on your needsD4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

I use a Traxide split charge on D4 MY16 which works with no problems at all.
Ordering the unit is simple and took a couple of weeks to arrive. Purchased the cables etc in the UK

I have both, and have managed to melt the case off 3 traxide 160's. Definitely can't seem to handle the 40amp load in the long term. Now swapped for something else, while I do further testing. I guess, I would probably skip the TX next time through. I have three molten piles of goo. emails went unanswered, due to covid no doubt.
Prospeed battery tray which mounts where the rear AC is so if you’ve got that it’s not suitable. Otherwise Optima yellow top and a VSR (to be replaced with a DC-DC charger when I’ve got some more funds).
