Ok, time for silly question number 2.
Having looked through the instruction book, I cannot find an answer.
How do I get the sat nav screen to stay switched of??
Every time I start the vehicle, the screen lights up, and i have to go into settings and select screen of.
Is there no way to leave it switched of permanantly until I want to use it??
Getting fed up switching it of everytime I start the car.
Just looking to be able to switch it on when I want to use it.
Surely i am missing something here??

errrr.. nope, that's it
LR assume that everyone wants a nav screen all the time - you soon get used to blanking it out of your peripheral vision (unlike the 3 million candela 'your lights are on' warning light )

I know what you mean, glad someone else finds it annoying.
Its probably because there are so many other buttons we could be pressing instead of waisting valuable time switching of the screen

I was actually being sarcastic though not directed at you Gordon. On mine if the screen was off last time I drove the D3 next time I put the key in the ignition it comes back on to the Settings screen and it's one press to turn it off again. We used to get people winging about having to press the Agree button on the sat nav too
TBH it's a good thing to hear, those who come on here asking about reliability take note, D3's are so reliable nowadays all we have left to do is discuss the minor annoyances like that and what bits we're going to bolt on next The End

I know you were Slimer, so thought I would give you a nice reply.
note I added the at the end.
not had any reliability issues yet, but only got it Thursday afternoon.
i couldn't beleive the difference going from my 300tdi disco to the series 2, but it is huge going to the 3.
Should get it out for a good run on sunday, as been busy with work, and working again tomorrow.
there are still a few buttons and switches i haven't tried yet.
Still discovering things i wasn't aware of with reading the handbook.
Found the puddle lights this evening when out in the dark, nice wee extra.
Also managed to enable the mirrors to dip when reversing through control panel settings.
Oh the joy the grin is getting bigger
hopefully get some time this weekend to get a good coating of polish and wax on it before i get it dirty.
