Advice on spares for D3 in remote locations

Hi All,

Just bought a D3 TDV6 with 55K.
As I live in Argentina but travel a lot around the World, was wondering if you have any advice on what spares can I bring in a suitcase and preventive maintenance can I do availing of a fully equipped workshop.
Going to Ireland and South Africa next month and was thinking to get the following:
- IID Tool
- BAS remap interface.
- Compressor repair kit
- K&N performance air filter.

I know I can ebay some stuff to an address in Ireland but know nothing about buying LR parts in SA
Would appreciate any advice.

Cheers

I would recommend;

Original brake light bulbs,

Tailgate cable with the upgraded L end.

EGR blanking kit from BAS

Forget the filter, I had one and it makes No difference.

Thumbs Up

Cheers Bigdave...

Was thinking about the filter as it is a permanent washable one, not so much for performance...
Thought you could not blank the EGR valve on 8 vin D3's...
Also, are you aware of any tool that can void the 50km limit for off road height...over here is more like OZ and SA...

Thanks a mil

Leo,

Didn't realise it was an 08 so yes they can't be blanked I'm afraid.

The filter has received mixed reviews and there was some evidence the oil can mess about with the MAF sensor.

Search the site chap.

Not sure about the tool that's way over my technical capacity I'm afraid. Whistle

Let me know if you want a hand with the shipping.

Also get an Original fuel filter, some aftermarket ones can cause problems.

Thanks sheerluck,
I am thinking about Llams...it is tempting...what puts me off is that with the IID tool i can also do faults diagnostics...also a cheaper option...

Leo, LLAMS is not a tool as such, it is an add on for the suspension ECU that allows different height settings compared to standard, including the removal of the speed restriction at >50km/h.

As you say, Argentina is more like Australia or SA than the UK, so go take a look at the AULRO forum, and see how many D3/D4 owners have it installed.

Hi Leo,

I make the Llams kits. There is no UK reseller with the nearest in Germany or Belgium as shown on my web-site. I post anywhere but can't say if one would arrive in Ireland in time for your visit. Email me for more details if you're still interested.

I assumed you were a member on here Graeme. Someone obviously got to the username Graeme before you here. Laughing

Thanks for the reference Dave. Another member did indeed draw my attention to this thread as I only occasionally log onto this forum, already spending too much time online.

It was short-sighted of me to use only my first name on the other forum when there were or would be others with the same name, possibly leading to confusion.

No problem Graeme. I'll be sending some cash your way myself as soon as I'm able to. Wink
