Brake Light Mods
Wonder if anyone can help me?
Thinking of changing the rear brake lights to four bulbs.
I have got some spare holders but am struggling to get the connectors out. Is there an easy way? I just want the brass connector and wire, don't want to pull them too hard in case they break.

I did this a while ago and the brass bits do come out but are held in by a tiny hook on one side of the brass, inserting a very small scew driver down the side with the clip on will release it and allow you to slide out ,it will then just click in once you have removed the rubber blank
Just found these pics should help

Wouldn't life be easy if we could get those connectors and grommets!

Searched on here, but couldn't find anything. Perhaps someone could point me in the right direction?
But GDL's info should help me. I bought a rear lens and holders complete off Ebay to play with for a fiver!

the lower holder is the same as the upper working brake light except they have not fitted the brake bulb contact and wire. I got a light unit loom from Landrover £13 (but could be sourced fom a scap unit) i then compressed down one of the copper contacts i needed and slid it out of the unit .....
Got mine from TLO ( The Large One ) a member on here
If I could find my spares I would send you 2

I just soldered a wire direct onto the bulb base, works a treat all four lamp light up. since the sun is out, I will nip out side and take a picture.

Done that before shiny moose, but is a b r when a bulb goes on a dark night!
Can't see much, but the red wire on the left hand lamp holder is new. the white plug is prised out, and a hole drilled through it for the wire to pass.
You then solder a wire directly onto the spare bulb terminal and thread the wire through the lamp holder, insert the bulb, push the white plug down the wire and back into the end of the lamp holder. The end of the wire (red in my case) was spliced into the feed for the brake lamp in the right hand lamp holder.
Repeat on the other side and you have 4 brake lights - as an aside I have not had a bulb failure since doing this mod, before hand I got through a fair few blown bulbs
