Flap should be hinged from the top and I fitted mine to the right - most caravans have the leccy cable exiting the A frame on the right so means its not crossing the hitch. 2013 Evoque

Just had mine changed from twin to single as it should have been when ordered its on the right and the flap is on the right so the plug fouls on the frame of the towing bracket and won't engage

Is it the disc on the side of the plug that fouls the tow bracket?
If so I had this problem on a car a few years ago, when I plugged into the socket and tried to turn the plug to lock it the disc caught on the bracket so I just cut the disc off with a hacksaw and it was ok after that. D4 SDV6 3.0 HSE Auto 2012 Sumatra Black

The Flap on mine is hinged from the right (3 o'clock) and mounted on the right hand side of the rear towing eye. It was to tight fixed to the left.

It turns through 90degrees and clicks into position, I towed my caravan with it like that firstly on my Saab Aero (that was the one I had the problems with) then both my Freelander's totalling about 8years altogether without any problems whatsoever. I grant you it's not supposed to be cut off but it was a fix for me at the time.
My Disco now has twin sockets. D4 SDV6 3.0 HSE Auto 2012 Sumatra Black

just to be awkward, mine is in the left hole, with flap hinged on the left, which is great as my 'vans electric cable is on the left.

Mines is same as Madrunner - fitted to the right and hinged from the top. No need for any spacers

Mine was fitted aftermarket by the dealer and I asked them to fit it on the right-hand side because that is the side on which my caravan's socket is fitted. My last car had it on the left and I had to trail the wire under the hitch - never was happy about that.
The socket is fitted with the hinge on the left (at 9 o'clock) and, although I haven't hooked it up to the 'van yet, I don't think there's a problem with clearance.
13-pin is much better than the 2 socket setup. "The quality remains long after the price has been forgotten." Henry Royce

Yep, available for a couple of quid from LR.
That'll be part no LVSA500060 - Adaptor plate. Doesn't come with the required brass screws though so be sure to ask for them as well.
