I read this article this morning and I think it is the most intelligent, balanced and unbiased essay on the topic that I've seen so far. We (4x4 drivers) don't come out squeaky clean but the author states the facts and dispels some of the myths. Well done the Sunday Times!

At last, a good article! With the exception of the above line, obviously..... Embarassed

Even Sian Berry says she never puts a fake parking ticket on a Defender. She says it’s because they genuinely go off-road and they last a long time.

How can people just know if a car goes offroad or not? Or how long it will last? She should either stand behind her facts and ticket everything with higher than average emissions or admit that she's ticketting willy-nilly just because her 'taste' disagrees with the person's that bought the bloody car in the first place.

Ahh, that was a refreshing read.

You can't win with tree-huggers. The Greenpeace voice says that she would still object to 4x4s, even if they did produce less emissions, simply because they are 'dangerous'. Daft moo.
