Short hose failed

Earlier a11geo enquired if anyone had heard of the short hose between the turbo and first solid inter-cooler pipe failing. I can attest that it can and does. Big Cry
After my longer hose failing in the normal spot on the elbow, I read this post and started in. Oil at every hose joint back to the turbo.
Removed them all and gave a good look over. I found a small slit in the short hose to go with the split in the long hose.
Because it was the weekend, and sources of parts for the LR were closed, I have used rescue tape to try and seal the hoses while I wait for the new ones on their way from the UK.
The tape is not a long term answer as when the boost pressure gets too high, it screams like a balloon with the neck pulled tight. but only when over 2,000 rpm so still drivable if you need to get to church on Sunday.
Thanks for all the invaluable help and advise on this forum. Bow down
I am happy to receive all advise, and council. It is up to me to decide which I should follow!

Done it today. What a terrible job! The 2 large ones are easy but the little one ... needs time . Unfortunately the small one was split.
Thanks for this post helped a lot.

Can anyone explain to me why there are oil in the IC hoses?
There are only air getting through these hoses to the turbo.. No oil would leek here as the oil goes through a different pipeline.

Oil in the intercooler pipes comes from the crankcase breather and/or the turbo. If there's a lot of it, then that means failed/failing turbo seals, but a small amount is perfectly normal. Thumbs Up

Thanks guys. Was no ammount to worry about in the long hose. Just old gunk I guess from before I blanked the EGR Razz . Feel very sorry for the engine getting all this crap because of the EGR. Most engine has it nowdays.

Anyways, as long as the oil level in engine stays stabile, there should be no surprises when I go at the other two hoses Very Happy .
