Double Lock setup select?

Double Lock

Just came across this on the setup on the menu between the speedo and rev counter. Any ideas what it does? I double lock the car by pressing the lock button twice on the keyfob, which also brings in the mirrors, so just wondered what ticking this does...

It it not just two presses of the remote to lock/unlock?

Yep, but there is a menu item which you can tick or un-tick in the setup menu between the two clocks....

Yes, untick it and it will fully lock or unlock with one press of the remote.

aha!! thanks for that. Always assumed I had to double press anyway to get the mirrors to fold in.

Just out of interest does the car ever lock when the key is out of range of the car....sure I could try it out, just curious if I always have to use the fob to lock the car.

On my GS changing that setting alters the unlock between one and two presses, the locking remains two presses.

OK, that's interesting...Not sure why you would want to unlock the car with two presses, considering approaching the car with the key fob opens the car. Is there keyless entry on the GS?

I think he may be talking about 1 click for unlocking the driver's door and a 2nd click for unlocking all the rest.

Press once to single lock the vehicle. All doors and the tailgate will lock (but can still be unlocked from inside) and the perimetric alarm will arm

Press twice to double lock. Double locking secures the vehicle and prevents the doors being opened from inside or outside of the vehicle. The doors cannot be unlocked or opened from inside the vehicle when double locked.
This provides additional security if the vehicle is left unattended. The vehicle cannot be opened by breaking a window and operating the door locks from inside. Additionally, double locking also activates the full alarm system.

Depending on whether you have it set to single door unlock or multi point entry determines how the car unlocks, with single point, one press opens only the drivers door, with 2 presses all the doors unlock. This can also work on keyless entry, when you approach the car either one door unlocks or all doors unlock.

OK thanks Dan for that definitive answer. Will un-tick as happy for the car to be opened completely when I get near enough with the key (so that my excitable kids can also get in)

to be honest, still trying to get used to it as it's new to me! I find myself trying to enjoy the fact that I don't need a key to get in the car or start the engine, but then when I come to stop my hand always goes to the right of the steering wheel to turn the engine off... Then when I get out of the car, I spend time trying to find where I put the key so that I can lock the car....somewhat defeating any time gained by not putting a key into an ignition. I've also put the key in one of the cupholders, only to stop the engine, get out, close the door, look for the key, then remember I've left it inside the car...

Anyone got the perfect method?? Rolling Eyes

I also keep key in pocket and lock it by pushing the button on the door handle, I especially like that when you open the back it remembers if car was locked or unlocked.
