servicing, main dealer,,,,,or elsewhere!! |
|
Hi all,
my D4 HSE is due it's 1st service in March, i read a thread approximately 10 months ago about a site that offered cheaper servicing than booking your car in at your main dealer.
I recall, you searched for a participating dealer in your locality and you chose a service slot that suited?1?
Any ideas please?
Thank you in anticipation
Andrew.

My car has flashed up service required (only done 8000 miles and 9 months since last service - does that mean its oil change only.
Also, anyone used this company?
www.servicingstop.co.uk
Says £130 for interim and £205 for full service plus guarantee to beat main dealer prices for any additional work required.
Thoughts?

I use an independent for my servicing, though I do occasionally call the main dealers for comparative prices.....
There are some good independents close to you, Rockingham Landrovers on the outskirts of Corby seem to be specialising in D3's at the moment, and RM Landrovers in Raunds are good too, G4OC Secretary

I googled servicingstop and read some rather bad reviews (particularly about the collection and drop off). I also figured out this is the second main service, not an oil change service. Lancaster Reading quoted £615 and then agreed to sign me up for some allegiance programme and gave me 15% off. Sound reasonable? Including collection/delivery from High Wycombe area which I didn't expect they'd cover, being about an hour away.

For my 24 month full service I have in a couple of weeks, the LR dealer prices I found varied widely:
* £609
* £573
* £569
* £535
* £468.
The last one is so cheap I'm calling them back just to be sure, as I think they quoted me £450 for my 12 month intermediate service (but I did get that down to £350).
Edit: yep, the 24 month/ 30,000 mile full service for £468

So £523 post-discount looks pretty good (beating all of them except that last one).
Oh, just seen your edit - where is that one with? Wonder if its worth calling back Lancaster and saying that if these are dealer prices they ought to offer the same price.

I got my 135,000 mile / 108 month service originally quoted at £392 reduced to £257 by supplying my own oil, which I bought on special offer elsewhere for £48 instead of the £72 the dealer wanted, plus an oil filter from TLO. And I changed my own pollen filter.
This was north of the border, but if you're up there on holiday it makes sense if you want the main dealer stamp. VR6 > 330D Touring > D3 HSE > !?XC90?!

Help with 2nd service please! |
|
Did my 1st service for £575 after just covering less than 5000 miles. The 2nd service is due in june and i am not planning to go back to my dealer, my Disco 4 SDV6 GS 5dr 2011 Diesel(which i bought new in 2011) is just about to clock 8000miles (obviously I dont use it that much) Any ideas where to go? I've just been quoted £225.5 +VAT by www.servicingstop.co.uk. As anyone actual used their service and is it of any good? they claim your warranty is valid if you service with them, is it right? I am in london/kent area.

I've not dealt with them but I read a lot of bad reviews that they have no idea about some cars and their delivery/collection drivers didn't know how to drive automatics and damaged cars. Decided in the absence of anything positive except their pricing I wouldn't take the risk

Given some of the locations on peoples profiles on this thread, I'm not sure how much this helps but I can thoroughly recommenf Guava at Guildford. Fully Authorised LR Service Agent, very attentive team and James (Service Mgr) is exclellent. Had my D4 serviced there for last 3 years and give best prices in this region. Just came back from its third service today. £368 for the service and 3 year brake fluid change. That price includes the 15% discount that they give to this site's users.

Do I need to service my disco 4? |
|
Hi all,
Does anyone know if it's mandatory to have the 2nd service done especially when the car has only done less than 3000 miles since the 1st service? I checked the manufacturers warranty and it only says the 1st 12000miles or 1 year after purchase. The car seem to be in good working conditions and obviously with just less than 8000miles on the clock the service light is not indicating otherwise.

Every 16,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first.
Kiss goodbye to your 3 year warranty if you don't.

Thanks Mate.
Has anyone used the service of http://www.fixmylandrover.co.uk before? They seem to have a good competitive price. I must get my car serviced at a price that justify the useage, definitely not going back to my dealer. Any other practical landrover approved garage will be appreciated around London, sussex, kent or Essex.
