Vulnerable Wires ???

Whislt underneath polishing the inner wheelarches [joke], I noticed the following:
In the rear offside I noticed a few vulnerable wires ..see photo.
2 white wires in the foreground and a black plus red wire in the background!!!
Seems strange to me that although there is insulation in the wiring loom closeby, that these wires are allowed to be 'exposed'.
Seems to me a problem waiting to happen.

What do these wires control ???
Is this a problem waiting to happen ???
Are your wires like this ???

given the lack of reports of damage, i'd say they're pretty safe Wink
The insulation is pretty tough, not just yer bog-standard PVC stuff and only breaks out of the flexible conduit to a connector, not 100% but i'm pretty sure that if it's two-wire it's for the brake wear indicator circuit.
in the early days of the D3 there were many concerns about exposed conductors, as I recall, none of these have materialised into problems, the only problems have been with internal loom splices and connector ingress protection, in all cases these have been rectified by TSB's and pre-build improvements
