Intermittant loss of power. |
|
This is not the hesitation at roundabouts symptom - which I also get.
This is me driving along, often at constant speed but can be either accelerating or decelerating and there is the sensation of power on, power off, power on, power off at he same speed as it takes you to say it. It happens about ten times then goes back to normal. The last time was at 80mph on the French autoroute (about 1000 miles after the last time which might just have been a co-incidence) and as the gearbox was locked it was quite a nose on the windscreen job. Even the 12 year old in the back noticed. It feels like some dodgy fuel was going through but it has spanned many tanks worth. LRA came out the time before and found no codes saved, fiddled with the brake pedal sensor but as my foot hadn't strayed onto the brake for about 100 miles the last time it wasn't that. Any ideas?
It may be the ear of faith but I could imagine the exhaust note was more throaty at the time.

The way you describe that it sounds like exactly the issue Dave T is having at the moment.....try searching his posts, can't remember what his latest update was
I had a Volvo V70 that "surged" at speed...turns out it was the Mass Air Filter, but think Dave has had his checked "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Evening; I think I may have this problem with my 62plate D4 XS.
One quick stutter and jolt normally about 5mins after setting off, so far only at speeds of 70-80mph.
Did you ever get to the bottom of the problem and resolve it?
Thanks

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I have just had this same problem. Stopped at a junction and engine sounded really throaty and then pulled away and had a real surging on/off on/off power. Let off the throttled and seems ok, then back on the throttle and did it again. Stopped at next lights. Put it neutral, revved it and then all sounds fine and back to normal. I'm suspecting a sensor problem but did anyone solve this and what was it? Thanks! Discovery 4 SDV6 HSE '65 - Projects in planning phase!
