About to Order need thoughts on sat nav & the timer heat
Hi,
Lived with my trusted £80 tom tom for last 8/9 years without a problem but do want a nice integrated one on my new (soon to be ordered) D4 but seems like £1746 for a Sat Nav (HDD premium satellite navigation system with Off road interface and voice control) seems a bit steep. If I was to exclude this option how much will I save to have a retrofit sat nav fitted in the same slot by someone else and will it look as good and offer same functionality )
and
Other option I am also pondering over is the heater with Parking timer and remote which is £850. Never had anything like this before but could be handy in winter months, again will it be much cheaper to have this installed off the shelve by someone else and how does this compare with the LR install .
Thanks
Dev

Rev, get the satnav and then have the d4 remote installed and enabled afterwards for considerably less than the LR factory price.
I've done a few of these and they're quite straight forward Bodsys Brake Bible

Mine had the remote timer as a factory-fit option by the previous owner, but I would def have retro-fitted it ...its great, and apparently works up to a range of 1km ...as the boys had said, wait and get it done after "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Thanks for the replies.
So retrofit it will be for the remote heating but what about the satnav?
I failed to mention it is a commercial discovery (2 seater) version I am looking to purchase and this version has optional satnav for £1746.

If you had a fiver for every day you had to put the tomtom in the windscreen and then take it out again ...you would wish you went with the OEM unit everytime
Besides the latest version is cracking 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

no I don't want a pocket tom tom in there at all.
I want to know if there are retro fit satnav unit that will fit in the consol (permanent) for a lot less than £1746

If I was to go for it I will take the lux pack but to be honest cruise control and the updated stereo system in not that important for me on the commercial discovery but I do need a satnav, but seems like it is such a premium to pay for satnav.
However been watching some youtube videos of discovery satnavs and it does look cool and I think it does integrate well with the stereo\ipad and 4x4 menu etc. So maybe it is worth the premium price.

Do you do a lot of miles? If so I think you'd find cruise really useful. I wouldn't have a car without it. The satnav is good, as you say.PAGODA
