In the process of buying a September 2012 D4, it states it has 'Park Heater', I couldn't see any additional remotes or fobs but just wondered how the park heat works, can the main Land Rover remote be programmed for this too? Or is it a timer thing?
Thanks

If its a HSE it will have park heat as standard ( via the timer on the display ) ... The remote part was not standard it was an option .....it won't be there if someone didn't pay the extra £700 odd for it
You can fit it after buying the car ... It's a lot cheaper G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
Ahhhhh, it is an HSE and the spec didn't specify 'remote' so that's probably what it is then. The supplying dealer is not LR so weren't too sure about the Park Heat function. I've managed without remote up to now so guess i'll live! Afterall my commute to work is only a couple of minutes! There are advantages of being a farmer and having a farm cottage, but then don't have the excuse of being snowed in! Thanks forthe replys, as I get older the remote might be a bit more necessary and ill have to be in touch!

Just think of the wear and tear it will save your engine from starting a warm engine and not cold
Never mind getting into a warm Disco, especially if you are doing short journeys all the time, and the engine never gets warm !

Get Wiggs to retro fit the remote, you will not live without it I can assure you.
My situation is exactly the same as yours, and remote is a godsend! Programming on the screen is a pain 'cos there are mornings when you look out the window and it is bloody cold and you hadn't programmed, but if you had the remote you just press (up to 1000mtres away!)and 20 mins later everything is warm!!
Wonderful bit of kit!

In my car the FBH only defrosts the windscreen and warms the engine coolent slightly. No way can it be described as "20 minutes later everything is warm". Is mine faulty? What are others opinions?

Is there an option of getting the FBH on a XS D4 to run on a timer or remote?
I've always wanted this since I bought my first D3 and it was a function - that never worked and got zapped by LR next time there was a software refresh.
Cheers,

Coffeecup here's how you activate Timed Climate
Touch Extra Features on the home screen then Timed Climate.
The screen should say No Timer Set
White writing on a Black ground are inactive buttons
Black writing on White ground are active buttons
White writing on an Orange ground are activated functions.
On the Timed climate screen (at least on my car) it seems that only when the engine has just been switched off are the Manual Heat and Manual Vent buttons active but I'm still not absolutely certain as to when these buttons might be active.
To start the heater touch the Single Event timer button which changes to orange. Touch Timer then set the time and touch the “On Symbolâ€.
Do not forget to press OK and the screen should show that the timer is active with the time of operation.
The earliest time you can set the timer is the next whole 5 minutes that is 5 mins or 10 minutes etc. past the hour. If, when you get to the time input screen, you just touch the “On Symbol†and OK it seems to set the timer to come on now; that is, the time shown on the clock but as soon as it changes to the next minute the display changes to No Timer Set and heater does not fire up. You have to set a time in the future.
I hope your heater warms the car better than mine.
(I wanted Galway Green but could only get a deal on available cars so bought black)

Sorry, checked brochure again XS doesn't have it.
My buttons are greyed out with the ignition off and the radio on.
I clamber in the car on a freezing cold morning. Touch the radio on button, navigate to the timed climate screen without going near the ignition ...... Manual Heat not active. Have to programme the timer! Yet whem I arrive home with hot car, turn off the ignition. Then turn the radio back on and naviagte to time climate screen .... highlighted (active) buttons!

i think you need to read the manual
manual heat will only heat up the car if its been running and there is some heat there to warm the car up .
so ..you pull up at the shops ...wait for the wife to go shopping ...press radio on ..manual heat / vent available ..
if you have the ignition on the buttons are grayed out cause you might aswell turn the heaters on yourself .G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Which page?
Under the general heading TIMED CLIMATE CONTROL
Page 63 says "The touch screen can be used to either program preset activation times for the timed climate control system, or to operate the system manually"
No mention of having to warm the car up first to use manual heating or have I misunderstood you?
