Changing the Display settings on a discovery 3
I have just taken ownership of a discovery 3 but have owners manual, I am trying to access the display settings but to no avail, I checked on the internet and followed the procedure but pressing the "i" button when vehicle is stationary simply moves me through the various pre selected fields, I am sure I am making a simple error but any advise is warmly welcomed.
Thanks
Mark

Welcome to the forum, mark1966!
In order to access the "Settings" menu, you do need to be stationary. Keep pressing the "i" button until you see a screen that looks like this:
Then you need to press one of the ▶▶| or |◀◀ buttons on the steering wheel to navigate your way through the settings.
Better go and fill-up (again)...

Mostly to do with units of measurement:
External Temperature (C or F)
Fuel Consumption (mpg or whatever those Europeans use )
Also stuff like how long your "Follow Me Home" lights stay on for and what happens to your mirrors when you select Reverse (only if you have electric memory seats IIRC) and overspeed warnings, etc...
Can't remember everything that's in there but that's a start.

Mine is an s spec model and in my info I have f.b.h. timer, can this be activated at all or am I getting excited over nothing
Curly, that means you did not get the software update provided by LR
Not sure if it actually works though as designed, but you will have a wire red I think in pin 2 of the FBH plug, useful, as if you want to fit a controler you can simple cut an splice into this wire Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Curly, I have to say, i am amazed that with 450 posts on the forum you don't know about the FBH mods.

Thanks Steve, tried that but still just moves repeatedly between the macro fields, its almost as if the vehicle thinks it is in motion and so dissables access to the setup

mark1966,
I believe you require the settings menu to be activated with a faultmate or similar. Base models or models which didn't have cruise/stereo steering wheel buttons obviously had this function disabled as there was no way to navigate the menu.Dennis

I have read some narpy but im confused as there is so much info to read just had a look and I do indeed have the red wire. So does it now make the installation that much easier ? Thanks for your patience

Curly, your car must have missed the 2006 'enhancement' programme. Some worthwhile stuff in that software upgrade including a better map, better mpg, exercising the turbo vanes for reliability, better cold weather starting, different power-on testing etc.
Worth getting it done.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
