Devon Independents
Put this in D4 section deliberately as some of the Independents seem to focus on older Disco's. Have got a list of the Devon Independents below but who has got experience/comments that might help me make a decision of who to use for my 2012 D4:
James Tennant - Sourton
Mike Harding - Bovey Tracy
Landrover4u - Axminster
OurGarage - Torquay
List is roughly North Devon - Mid Devon - South Devon but have I missed anyone?

Can't help on all but here goes:
Winston Pincome - Chulmleigh - I thought that Winston was a LR dealer. Maybe he no longer has the franchise. Last time I was there 4/5 years ago, the workshops looked a little antique. The farming community are very loyal to him and "Mother" hence the hundreds of trailers that he sells each year.
James Tennant - Sourton. Never used him but he has an excellent reputation here in Mid-Devon with some local garages sub-contracting LR work to him. Much cheaper hourly rate than Main Dealer and has all the kit apparently. They will come clean and tell you that if it is warranty work that is required that they are authorised by LR to do it but would rather you took warranty work to Main Dealer because of likely hassle.
Mike Harding - Bovey Tracy. Knows his stuff on the complete range of LR up to the end of the Disco 2 era for sure. After that I have no knowledge but once again a pleasant enough bloke to deal with and has Brookwells right next door for his spares procurement. Judging by the throughput on his forecourt he has a constant flow of work which must say something about his popularity.

Agree about James Tennant, bought my first Disco 200Tdi from him years ago.
My D3 always goes to Mark Kelly in Tavistock, since he moved to the new unit in Pitts Cleave Quarry in Tavi he's expanded - even getting a 3rd lift in for taking bodies off D3 HSE Mole: Range Rover Classic Vogue LSE Badger: D1 200TDi Long Wheel Base (the prototype )
Have an independent in my village, Ermington in the South Hams, Erme Valley Autos Ltd.
Handles all makes but has a speciality in Land Rovers of all ages.
Always done a good job for me on my previous D2 and now on my D4 .Morris Dancers: Drinkers with A Dance Problem
Not sure about James Tennant been cheap - just been charged £60 per hour labour by him.
I would count that as a fair price for work on a D4.

I had to use Devon 4x4 while on holiday a couple of years ago with the D2 when the SLS went titsup.
i can say that they were excellent and not too badly priced either, they really went out of their way to make sure that our holiday was too badly effected by the D2 issue.
i would use them again if was that way down. Andy.

You can always pop up to my workshop at wellington I'm a Ltd business vat reg,service book stamped,warranty work can be carried out,software updates,Remaps,EGR blanking,transmission flushing although not 8speed yet but working on it,work Saturdays plus waaaaaay cheaper then £60 ph Wanted D4s non runners pm for competitive price.
