Navigation Interface Software Update? |
|
Had an LR Experience session recently at Honiton. Noted that the Navigation Set -up or Destination screen was different to my Disco 4 HSE (built July 2012/bought September 2012). It had a row of smaller icons underneath the large ones. Has there been a recent update?
My navigation system suffers from the common problem that if the POI icon is turned off, touching it again does not turn it on  unlike the LR Experience Disco. I still cannot get car parks shown on the map!

Thanks DeeJay. Will do. My chassis number is within the range stated. Info reproduced below.
LTB00512 has now been released to check for software levels in the Infotainment modules.
Applies to chassis range CA596988-CA652214

Forget to ask. Does this upgrade allow the entry of POIs as I've read about in other threads?

Mine is smack bang in the middle of this.
Is this something the dealer should pick up on - or only if it's raised as an issue?
Can anyone who has had the upgrade applied advise what noticeable difference there is - if any?
Thanks D4 XS MY12 Galway

I brought it to the attention of the dealer before Christmas and he notified me when the update was available mine was just inside the VIN range. It allows the POI's to show on the map, which they didn't before, this was my issue. I seem to have acquired one more tab on the left of the home screen, before there was only 4 two selectable shortcuts a gap then Extras and Off tab. I now have 3 selectable shortcuts, Extras and Off tab. It is also a bit quicker to respond to inputs. It does not allow the input of POI's downloaded to a USB stick, as far as I know, I think this is only on 2013my, don't really bother me as I don't use the sat nav that much anyway. It's just handy for finding petrol stations and parking area's when on route or in a strange town.

Thanks. Mine's booked in for next Tuesday. They say it's a 2 hour job. If it doesn't upgrade to allow POIs to be added it begs the question why not if it's just software.

LR are a bit funny about changing spec, the lack of POI's not showing on screen is a software issue on the relative VIN no's, the update sorts this issue. But the ability to download POI's via a flash stick is a 2013my addition so I doubt this will be available on a 2012my, as it is changing the spec of a 2012my vehicle.

Thanks Deejay you're right, it would be too much to expect.
Westover Christchurch installed LTB00512 today and as a result the POI situation is the same. The POI soft key still remains inactive. After a technician failed to get any POIs to show and one of their vehicles had the same symptoms I left them to sort it out. A phone call from the service department later advised that the softkey is only suppose to turn off POIs and asked me to call in to be shown how to display POIs. I rather think this is a work around as described elsewhere on this site which as yet I am unable to reproduce. I would have liked to have read exactly what the bulletin said but this was not possible. (I'm not a pushy sort of fellow and I thought the phone call was going to be a "sorry we got it wrong please book it in again") Approached Westover Salisbury and waiting a call back.

Rixy, that is correct the POI Off key only turns them off not on. To turn them on go into map mode map showing, then touch anywhere on the map you then have the option to select what POI's you want on the map up to 6 highlight them press ok and they should now be on the map.

Thanks to Deejay and Paul at Westover Christchurch
Rixy's definitive Guide to POIs (MY 2012 with LRB00512 update)
1) To set up the 6 Quick POI types
On the nav screen > Nav Menu > Nav Set Up > Quick POI
Select one of the 6 slots, choose a category then a POI type. It replaces the type already in the slot.
2) To add/remove POI type on the map
Bring up the map. (It doesn't matter if a destination is set or not.)
Touch the map screen and Point of Interest appears as a soft key.
Press this key and the 6 Quick POIs appear.
These can be selected or deselected
(To select others press More to see categories and choose a category to see a list and select one type).
Press OK
The POI types left selected will now appear on the map
3) To Remove all POI types from the map
Select the Nav Menu from the map display
Press More
Press POI off
This declutters the map removing all POI types.
This soft key is now inactive until POI types are added as above
With bells on his fingers and bells on his toes, he shall have POIs wherever he goes

Interesting fumble around by LR this.
RIXY's fix above, is still the same as the one I posted last year even without the LRB fix. And the POI master button definitely ONLY switches them OFF.
I rang my dealer today as MY chassis number is in the range for the LRB too, but was told that there are NO outstanding service actions on my car
Worth a call to LRCC? What else can one do If it don't fit the third time - try a bigger hammer
