Main dealer servicing is it worth it? |
|
Hi all,
My pride and joy is nearly 8 years old.
Last year I had the belts done and a service at a main dealer, no probs no issues all good.
I'm due an annual service in February and have been quoted £376 for a 'Landrover 8 year service' my questions are -
What would an 8 year service consist of and is it worth keeping up main dealer service history when your car becomes a certain age as I do have a friend with a garage
Thanks all

I think up to a certain age and milage then the answer would probably be yes, after that, then probably not. Personally I would say at 8 years then probably no, especially if you plan to keep it for a few more years.
There can also be a ig difference in prices between dealers, Whn I looked at the 7 year service one dealer was at £1300, their sister dealership less than 30 miles away was only £750 ish and another within 30 miles was down at £650, so may be worth calling a couple to see. I totally agree with Dave T!
In many cases, Dealers will offer a better deal than good independants on fixed price servicing so the best thing to do is use LR for servicing & an Indy for repairs
As a comparison on my Golf, a Main Dealer was cheaper than the local VW Specialists on service, MOT, Cambelt & gearbox oil change
Always best to call a few up to compare quotes Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Depends on your dealer!
If you have a good main dealer and they know your car then it might be worth it, especially if you don't have any good LR specialists locally. If your main dealer isn't great or if you have a good indy near by then the answer is probably different.
At 8 years old I wouldn't have thought it will make a huge difference to resale value, personally. MY11 Disco 4 SDV6 HSE
