Is it a genuine LRA warranty? - there has been an extended warranty available through dealers - but it is actually an Allianz product. About $1900 for three years.

I only recently asked my service guy about this and he said LR Aus don't offer one.
Though there is a 3rd party one which he didn't recommend to buy and quite expensive.
If this is a genuine one, which dealer was this GC ?

It was Southside Brisbane. I will call the guy tomorrow and ask. He did say it had only been available since 1/7

GC,
I had my D3 in for service over the 9th and 10th of July and asked him then.
Whatever info you can get would be great.
Thanks for your help.

Slighty off topic, but I purchased an after market warranty with my diesel Jackaroo ('99 model). When the turbo blew up, the warranty people had a crack at getting out of it (my vehicle was 103km overdue for a service when the turbo died), but in the end they paid.
Result: warranty $1000.00 turbo $2600.00 plus labour.
Aftermarket warranties are worth it if you intend to keep the vehicle.

this is the example of the third party warranty the LR service guy used :
"if there is a failure (that is covered), they will search and find the cheapest parts - be it used or new as a last resort - and the cheapest labour and only pay the service centre that amount. The owner will then have to pay the difference ... so if the service centre quoted $1000 to repair, but the warranty company could get if fixed for $400, then I'd be up for $600 to get it done at the LR service centre ..."
sounds a bit extreme, but would rather a genuine LR warranty if there was one ... 2009 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 HSE

Went to the dealer today and the warranty is 3rd party. Autosure underwritten by MTA Insurance Limited. There is a booklet available. It has what is covered and more important what is not covered and it would take a bottle and a half of red to make complete sense of it all.

I've read through my after market warranty for the Land Rover and it expressly states that the vehicle must have had its services on time and performed by a qualified service agent. It also states that any parts used during the Manufacturer's warranty period must be genuine.
To me, to insist on these conditions infers that they too must abide by the same conditions when repairing your vehicle. That is, they must use a qualified service agent and genuine parts. As per my previous post, when my turbo died in my Jackaroo, they did use a refurbished turbo, but they had no issue with paying my preferred repairer the rate that he normally charges.
I've followed this up with a phone call to Allianz and they said that they do use reconditioned parts if possible, but also that those parts are further covered by the warranty, so it is not in their best interests to use poor quality components. They have no problem with you choosing a Land Rover Dealer to do the work.
For me, the $2000.00 for the peace of mind is worth it. With a new motor costing $23,000.00 or thereabouts, and me intending to keep the car for 5 years, I don't think I can afford not to have the warranty.
