Disco specialist garage in Cardiff/ South Wales |
|
I'm trying to find a Land Rover/Disco specialist in the South Wales area. Anyone know of a garage/mechanic in the area that knows its stuff?
I have an airbag warning light problem and either a height sensor issue or a problem with the compressor. This is my last chance at a fair price before I have to spend stupid money at a dealershipt.

If you take it to Vale hope it's a happier outcome than when I did. My nice shiney new (to me but 3 years old) 110 was in for a full monty service with new belts and tyres etc & it got nicked from their yard. I'd only had the car a week. The bloke had the cheek to ask me to pay for the servicing!!

Tell me about it, especially as I had to sort it all out through my insurance.

HBH in Caerphilly
MDP Landrover in Raglan
Avoid the silly over in Neath at the old ambulance depot !!!!! and all the Stratstones in South Wales in various locations
Foundary 4 x 4 in Tredegar as well IIRC
You can get Likes Landrover in Hay on Wye to price match as well - they are a LR main dealership who have turned themselves around , used them for my 105K service and was well impressed - failing that Guy Salmon in Brizzle come recommended ..... so much choice !!!

Went to Promec near Llantrisant. It's the first right after you pass the "back of beyond" stuck up on the side of a hill near Rhiwsaeson. Stratstone it ain't. The floors aren't clean, everything has an oily rag feel about it, there's no 50" TV or comfy couch. However, there are two key things about the business. Instead of a dealership £120 an hour they charge £35 plus VAT. They know what they are doing.
The owner's called Ian and he's very switched on. Knows Land Rovers inside out. Same goes for Mike who's a top mechanic but is big into computers. He's their electrics specialist and really knows sh!t from clay. The last person I dealt with was Dan who also knew a lot about Land Rover and is possibly the most cheerful of the three. Ask Mike why
They did a code read and some investigation last week on an airbag and air suspension problem (see other thread started by me) and concluded that I needed a new clock spring and a compressor. They fitted both today and they were bang on with their diagnosis. It cost me £255 all in (labour), which I thought was reasonable and compared to what it would have cost at a dealership then I feel I'm about £600-£800 better off.
The only issue is that if you don't have a lift arranged and you need to go somewhere to kill time then your only real option is to get a taxi down to the out of town shopping complex in Llantrisant.
I won't be using anyone else from now on.
