Mud Flaps
I am in two minds whether to buy mud flaps or not because half of me thinks that a discovery is born to get dirty
The other half off me says new car keep it clean. I also think that when off roading their will not be enough ground clearance with mud flaps on the car.
Apparently they can hurt your mpg by up to 2 mile..... not seen any proof of that thoughMissplaced African

I think they look a bit naked without them.

xyplex,
I'm also in the same predicament as yourself, cant make my mind up, I've had flaps on all my previous Discovery's. I've had my D3 for 2 months now and with all the wet weather the cills and below rear bumper becomes very dirty, I like to see a nice clean D3.

Only a personal view but I think they look nasty with mudflaps so I'd not bother. Plus they don't really seem to keep the car clean, anyway...MY11 Disco 4 SDV6 HSE

I got a pair for the rear after plastering the Caravan with !! Has made a significant difference. Got them of fleabay for a good price.....which I found out was because they had no fixings!!! (Tip:- if buying, make sure they include fixings as you would not believe how much the dealer wants for these!!!) D3 HSE 06 with all the bells and whistles

£35 for a set seems pretty ok. Had them on my D3 but not made my mind up for the D4.

IMHO they seem to help to keep the back of the car a little bit cleaner than it would be without, trouble is with the standard ones being rigid, they're rather prone to damage, I just tore one of my rear ones to bits.
ISTR there was a thread on here a while ago about using flexible rubber flaps adapted from Series 2 ones (I think?)Clive

Had them on my D3 and D4's - IMO they look good and do a job. However, if you do get your machines properly dirty or cross axled they rip the rears off!D4 3.0 SDV6 GS 13

I have front and rear mudflaps, looks ok but whether it keeps the muck off is a matter of opinion. Any way, the page for the home made ones is http://www.disco3.co.uk/wiki/Mud_flapsYou guys are gonna be busier than a test bench in a plunger factory!
