Paul,
Mine had 94k on the clock when I bought it and like you I wanted it to last many years. Had a mega flush at 100k which cured the shudders for about 2 weeks. Major service at 105k and shortly after that used Dr Tranny, one tube, worked a treat. 106k engine blew up put con rod through bottom of engine. Just because you look after the motor doesn't mean you will get years of happy motoring. Now looking at a bill between £5k and £9k depending on whether I get a new engine or refurbished one. All I can advise is get the oil pump checked. If I sound a pit peeded off its because I am. I had the same dream as you and 10 months after buying the car that dream has been shattered.
Hope you have more luck.

I am really sorry to here that It is really worrying that this sort of thing can happen, it seems the Disco's are plagued with so many issues (seems more than other vehicles) it is such a shame as they are such a nice car otherwise. Land Rover Discovery 3 (2006) 2.7 TDV6 HSE Auto

I wouldn't say that. They have their issues but engine failures and other major things are not all that common. They're complex cars and just need a few things keeping an eye on. Very sorry to hear that, my local auto gearbox repair place is full all the time with Audi Mitsubishi and Porsche he says that he rarely see a LR (I must be unlucky).
Unfortunately expensive complex car = expensive repair bills (try a Bentley GT, last month my friend paid £1,700 for an oil and filter change!!)Club Narpy Torch

going to do a gearbox flush this weekend. ive sourced 10ltr of millers atf DM and have 2 tubes of dr.t at the ready. am I missing something here, as no one seems to have mentioned it, but can I not premix the dr.t in with the fresh oil to save having to struggle with squirting the dr.t into a small pipe or filler hole?
Hi Nismotec, personally if I was doing a flush myself that's exactly what I'd do. The other way is when you've done the flush you will have to check fluid level and top up to finish the flush so you could always do it then.

Depends how you are doing the flush? If you are doing a "filo" method and pumping it in then yeah pre mix as you can put 10l in ok.
If you were just dropping sump then you may not get 10l back in and hence not all the Dr tranny (I think that makes sense )

When I flush the old oil out. Can I run some cheaper standard type ATF through to save wasting this expensive stuff or will that have catastrophic consequences? Or is there something else I can use to flush?

not really as it will mix and you won;t get it all out, the pumped flush is the most efficient/economical way to do it.
whatever the engine pumps out you pump back in and not much waste

Well I bit the Bullitt and did the flush. A bit scary to start with , but soon got in the swing of things and it looked like a patient in a hospital having blood transfusions!! Im well happy with the results. Even added some tranny lube. So fingers crossed this has cured the slip/judder

Can somebody confirm if we put the Dr Tranny into the outlet pipe before the oil cooler as shown below pipe:

Im thinking of sucking some oil out via a small pipe and just heating up the Dr Tranny before forcing it down the same pipe
I am puzzled as to why everyone is trying to use the hose to top up the gearbox that hose is the feed to the cooler so your forcing fluid the WRONG way. Easy solution attach a 10mm hose to the cooler, and inject your fluid into the cooler which will return to the gearbox.iiD Bluetooth Diagnostic Tool
