Radio cuts out when using 12v outlets |
|
Hi All,
Was wondering if anyone has come across this one before. Whenever I plug in a charger for any devices into the 12v outlets the DAB radio cuts in and out for about 20 seconds, before cutting out completely until the charger is removed.
Any ideas welcome, I would like to do both at the same time.
Thanks,
Toby.

If its a aftermarket DAB radio its possible that it has been wired in to the same power source as the 12v socket, thus when you plug in a charger of some description, it is drawing the power to that device, electricity is a bit water and will take the path of least resistance.
Also, if its a aftermarket radio did this start after it was fitted? 2015 D4 HSE LUX Kaikoura Stone(sold)

Thanks for your reply Den. The radio is a standard fit.
Thanks,
Toby.

No probs Toby,
I think that having a standard fit radio its better to let a stealer or a car sparky look at it, the only other thing i would have tried is to see what load is being draw down the 12v line when things a plugged in, it could also be what you plug in, which is what i would check first, i used to see lots of phone chargers that had gone wrong inside and when plugged in would blow the fuse for the 12v supply, mainly straight away, but some used to take a bit of time when the phone wanted too draw more current.
Im sure there are much better sparkies than me on here, not sure if user Robbie is one, but he might know or has heard of the problem you have.
Sorry for not being able to help much more. 2015 D4 HSE LUX Kaikoura Stone(sold)
