Hi all
Coming home tonight, I noticed a faint humming tone (almost like a number unobtainable tone on a telephone) which lasted only seconds as I was slowing down on approach to a roundabout. After pulling away the noise stopped, so I thought it had something to do with me brakes. However, a couple of minutes later, or so it seemed, I notice the centre display flashing Engine System Fault. I also notice that when I put my foot down on the accelerator, thick black smoke came from the exhaust. Bit like you would get if an older petrol engine was coked up. There did not seem to be any loss of power.
Any suggestions as to what it may be would be graciously received.
Thanks in anticipation.

Plenty of posts on here if you search, but basically open the bonnet and when looking into the car, it is the big hose just behind the radiator on the left as you look into the car. Mark.
