Thats the thermal fuse which is there for a safety to protect cars wiring.if you use a thin wire with a couple of crocodile clips and then go plug it back into the plug of your car your blower should work again.doesnt have to be screwed back in to ducting but will prove the thermal fuse is at fault.Your left thumb is on the heat sink the thermal fuse is measuring temperature of air flow through this once running.Maybe time to get a new one ordered as this will be your problem.Have to go to work now as 3 hours minus uk time.will catch up later.

A snip but hopefully will cure your heater problem.Did you try the test with a crocodile clip on the fuse.

No I didn't try the crocodile clips but I managed to get my new unit for £61 after a bit of arguing with the man at the local landrover dealership so I'm pretty chuffed with that fix. Cheers for all the help

Sorry just had one of the lads at work test it he has said that the top resistor next to the capacitor is at fault he said he can't get a reading through it
From the marsk on the board, S-D-G
S= Source
D=drain
G=gate
I would think its a mosfet transistor, controlling the Fan speed. Depending on the signal on the Gate it will decrease/ increase the resistance between Drain & Gate ...
Very simplified and generally.
From the picture, it might be possible to get that transistor out, and put in a new one.... ?

Heater/Blower itches all dead
Hi guys,
Just finished putting my disco back together and noticed the heater/blower doesnt work. I have no response from eh switches and dials and tried the start-up test as well as the relay and fuse in the engine bay and nothing.
Any ideas ?

if you read through the above chain ,your most likely suffering from a failed heater resistor control unit
basically comes down to 2 choices:
quick fix ..spend £65 and buy a complete replacment plug in unit
tech fix strip the module down and replace the thermal internal fuse cost £2.50
read the start of the chain to find out how to get the unit out ,its a simple unscrew and unplug but getting to it through the glove box can be a fiddleMY05 SE D3 Manual my first LR what a car
MY10 HSE D4 auto
MY14 XXV more buttons than the spaceshuttle

Hey Mark
Thanks for the advice. I swapped the resistor today but still no joy. Im working if its something more simple yet more tedious.... There is no lights on the heater control panel and no response from any dial. The radio button illuminate as does the LCD surround but.... the lcd is not lighting properly, no stations etc - suspicious but unlikely to be connected i imagine

Hi
Not yet as had a more pressing issue such as another complete rebuild of the engine, this time with a new crank !!
Just have it back together except I'm getting a screeching noise from the bell housing that sounds like flex-plate or TC
If anyone has any clues before i remove the box please help !!
