You may need to check/exchange thermo- fuse inside blower control box.. Control circuit is VERY simple, there are only two elements, which can be broken with higher probability - transistor and thermo - fuse.

Should I be worrying about this? The red wire looks like it's been very hot at some point

Looks like I've found the problem!

Ouch but just because it is melted there does not always mean the fault originates there, so check the circuit carefully.

Double check thin wires/contacts too - may control circuit for power transistor is broken due short circuit melted plastics.

I will disconnect the battery and put a meter across the contacts and check there is no continuity.

Could this of been caused just by it burning out, or is defiantly caused by a fault

May your connector had bad contact, may your blower draws to much current? Rolling Eyes

Hey guys, I got same issue here. Just wondering how I can I verify if it's the transistor faulty in the BCM?
I got the multimeter but don't know how to test the transistor.
Thanks

On bad:

Short between Drain and Source, 51 Ohm in both directions between Gate and Source, same between Gate and Drain.

At this moment i don't have a new transistor, so i can't check what it shows in normal condition.

Hi guys,

Here in Norway - many have experience with heater fan not working, resulting in change of heater resistor. The main issue is water coming in from the bottom of the windsheild and down to the pollen filter. The water soaks up in the filter and eventually leaks down to the heater fan. One way to check this out is to take out the pollen filter and then spin the heater fan. If it doesn't spin freely when u touch it, then the fan is damaged and must be changed. If u only change the resistor, you could provoke a big balast to the heater fan and it can eventually catch fire!!!

I would recon there are experience with this in here also, but when reading the thread - this popped into my mind!
