Newbie to Air sus - is it working correctly ?
Hi All
New to this forum and Disco's. Just got my Disco 4 sdv6 from stratstone newport. Its still under warranty so i can take it back but i never know if im getting a genuine answer or getting fobbed off.
Been playing with the air sus as you do when you get a new toy.
The rear goes up instantly when you press the button but the front seems to take an age, i would say 30/40 secs to come up. Did this about three times then got the message saying it will rise when system cools down. Is this normal ??
Cheers

Compressor overheats if it runs for too long - so that element is normal.
Front usually takes a little longer (heavier?) but perhaps not that long.

A JDB says, that does seem a long time. On mine, the rear goes up pretty quickly, and the front almost immediately follows it. I only had the overheat message once on my previous D3, and that was after I'd run it up and down a few times (access height to Off-road height, possibly four or five times (or more)).
If the Stealer tries to fob you off, ask to check a couple of theirs against yours and see if there's a difference.

yes, the very first time you go trough all heights from access to off road there is enough compressed air in the resoervoir to do this at one, but, when you do this again, the reservoir goes flat, and you are going up with only the amount of air that the compressor is able to pump.
this behaviour is 100% normal.
(not normal is going up and down 3 times from bottom to top time after time, is not designed for this purpose. don´t worry, is thermal protected so it don't goes south if abused)

I believe another reason the front goes up after the rear is to avoid blinding people opposite when the lights are on, which would be the case if the front raised quicker than the rear.
Having said that, 30/40 seconds is way too much. My D3 suspension raises the rear in around 3 seconds after flicking the switch and the front in about 6 seconds.Dennis

is a function of the system to re-enable traction.....if you have to raise the vehcle or it raises itself
...I was told at the Coniston experience centre (they should know I would have thought)
It does this due to some preference to raise the back 1st to enable re-enable traction ?
I wouldnt have thought witha 4WD it would make any difference
but
there again LandRover are the worlds best & who is going to argue with them
I didnt realise that after three shots agoing up & down the system conked out on thermal overload - to tell you the truth mine never has & I'm playing with this all the time !BREXIT - done properly.

Also worth noting that it will be easier for the car to raise/lower if all four wheels are not locked. I mean do not do this whilst mashing brake pedal to floor, with handbrake on in Park!. Best to try on flat surface with no brakes in neutral; if must be done on a hill - in neutral no foot brake only handbrake.
