Hesitation / missing at motorway speeds - anyone else? |
|
Coming down the motorway earlier when I experienced a hesitation ( like fuel starvation ) or missing as if it was ruining on 4 cylinders which then kept running rough for 15 mins or so...
Slowed down a bit but it still seemed to be stuttering...
It has done this a few times before - previously it had been lashing down on both occasions and I actually wondered if it had been pulling water nt the air intake (we are talking Biblical rain on the motorway here...)
Anyone suffered similar and if so what was the cause?
It's two years old and on 56k miles...
Cheers... D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY
D5 Commercial - Handed back when I left that job…
D4 Commercial (2014MY) - gone
D4 Commercial SDV6 - Baltic Blue (also gone)
D1 300TDi... 2" lift, HD bumpers (both), detachable tow hitch, 9,500lb winch, 235/85/16 muds and plenty of other toys (gone to make way for the next toy...)

If it pulled in water would the air filter be wet or trashed?

Same symptons on my 2012 commercial was egr's (yes both!) at 7000 miles. Now got 48,000 on and its logging a fault of reduced performance. turns out turbo actuator
is poorly.
SSDD.

No red triangles or other dash indicators...
Haven't checked the air filter but conditions on each other occasion were so horrendous that I wondered if I was picking up a 'mist' that had led to partial blockage...
Nevertheless... phone call to the dealer and it's now booked in for a new throttle body next week - apparently the symptoms sound exactly the same as they have already had on another vehicle. I know that various folks have tales of woe with their dealer but the service dept at Hartwells Northampton do seem to be keen to respond!
