solar trickle wiring

Bought one of those solar trickle chargers as I've been suffering the low battery warning of late and they are on offer in maplin at the moment.

As the cigarette lighter connection shuts down and I can't be bothered popping bonnet eveytime I want to use it I was wondering if I could do something as simple as tapping the permanent live I have put in for the blackvue? I've got this set up with a saddle fuse on the spare perm live from the fuse board, can I just saddle this again with a fused connector and earth it to chassis are does it need anything more?

Happy new year to all who are reading this!

You could pick up the 12v feed for the 12s towing electrics situated in the near side rear panel in the boot.

cheers Lee

Wanted something at front really as it sits nicely on the dash and drops in the glove box when not in use.

If I didn't have tints id set it up in the rear out of sight

It fits in the glove box? Cribbins Dave, are you sure that wont suck amps out of your battery rather than put them in Shocked

Seen quite a few D3 owners with largish panels elestic-strapped to the top of the rear boot cubbies. Not the best position for sun capture but with 2 in place and ready access to the perm live of the tow electrics it could not be easier - just fit (via a simple piigy-back fuse) and forget.

I did buy a couple of panels myself but a change of jobs meant I no longer leave the car for long periods and park undercover.

Thumbs Up

Well I've gone in fused via spare perm live (28?) In glove box fuse.

Figured this tap in will be no different than towing perm or cig lighter perm.

I know power in is tiny but since doing I've not had low batt warning in morning.

Placebo or not my issue has gone away!

Will see what happens when I use fbh in morning but been too warm recently.

If I didn't have tints I would go for 2 larger units, 1 in each rear side window low down.
