How do you remove interior tailgate trim?

Has anyone done this and can advise how to access bolts behind rear license plate housing without hashing it up?

Want to remove my ladder but one bolt has corroded to the inner anchor/mounting and just spins. Tried slipping a hacksaw in between light housing and tailgate but gave up, was too much effort and damaged paint a bit.

While I'm at it might as well also ask how to secure my spots to the front grille after removing my A-bar. Is it as simple as glueing some plastic strips to an appropriate slat for reinforcement. Like the spots, can't see the point of the a-bar, bit 80s Rhino futile. Probably flog it if I can blank the holes in the bumper to my satisfaction afterwards and the spots stay put. Otherwise will leave on or keep to give next owner the option.

If you mean the upper tailgate, yes,

There are plastic barbed clips that push into the tailgate on the reverse of the inner trim molding, just give it a decent tug and it should come away at the bottom, then with a small ratchet and spanner you can work with it in situe just, gloves to protect hands are helpful.

I replaced my tailgate handle this way Thumbs Up
