Morning all
Both last night and this morning my car has given a very long boing when creeping along at 10 mph. No warning lights, nothing visible, just a tone for 5 seconds or so. Vehicle in TR normal, high ratio and Drive............bit unnnerving
Any thing to worry about or is it just developing character?
Cheers

have you got front PDC?
<edit> of course you have sometimes this can be activated by hot exhaust gases from trucks or motorbikes, water can also activate it

Yes TFC as you say..I have...
hopwever it was definetely the boing not the PDC screech.....and it was on a speedlimited site with nothing in front of me once and approaching a stop junction with nothing in front of me the other time.........had just been on the motorway so shouldn't have been any water left to run down......
just makes you jump that is all!!!...and keeps you awake I suppose...could be a safety feature end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

Hmmm.... very strange If the PDC's are contaminated you can get a long 'boing' although this is usually accompanied by the LED in the PDC switch flashing, other than that, nothing really springs to mind

actually I feel better now, I have had it a month and so far nothing strange had happened
will see if it crops up again, the PDC light definetely wasn't flashing
.....I was wondering whether it might be something to do with the gearb shift lever as i have yet to work out how it works out: sometimes you need to press teh button in on it; have foot on head, brake dashboard etc. to make it work and it seems to vary each time I put it in neutral..............if there is a Black D3 ahead of you at some green traffic lights it is probably me trying to work out how to get it back into drive!!!!!...and that does make it boing alot end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

Yer, could be, it wouldn't like being changed on the move, mine's a manual box so I can't say for sure

....
although of course on both these occassions my hand was nowhere near the lever.........
maybe it was just anticpating although I have to say it has never complained before about being slipped into neutral at low speeds (to change the transfer box etc.) end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......
