WTD: Drivers side wing mirror with Powerfold & heated gl |
|
The wife (honestly) has managed to whack a white van and smash the drivers side wing mirror glass and outer plastic case on the dirvers side wing mirror.
Reading a few posts on here it seems that I need a whole new mirror - even though the motor seems to still be working fine and the metal frame is intact.
Anyone have one going spare that they could sell for a reasonable cost?
Most on eBay are virtually the same price as a new one at the moment.
2005 SE by the way, so needs to be powerfold and heated.
TIA

Cheers Ash, but I have the matt black plastic versions so it would look a bit lop-sided with a colour coded on just the one side.

Wiggs
Thanks for looking!
Although I am now slightly baffled how you ended up with two spare passenger wing mirrors...

Could you not just fit a chrome or chrome-plastic top and a new glass? It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Chrome is a bit too blingy for my taste and I cant seem to find a matt black plastic case anywhere.
I also thought that the chrome covers were 'stick on' jobs, so the massive piece of the existing plastic case that is missing would let a fair bit of water in to the motor/electric gubbins and potentially cause problems. Hence new mirror was the way I was going.

Buy the chrome ones, get them painted up and use some silkaflex so it can easy be removed if needed but IIRC the electrics are waterproofed to a certain extent FFRR Owner, very nearly became a D3 owner
Test piloted a new D4 XS SDV6.. Gone and being forgotten i hope!!

Are these any good to you? Fit them and a mirror lens and off you go...
Not only fixing the problem, but adding a bit of class too.....

Thanks for all of the suggestions, but I really want to stick with the standard original spec matt black plastic mirrors.
I know, I know, its very dull, but I have always been a bit of an anti when it comes to changing bits on cars to make them look newer than they are.
I am just a very dull purist.
I didnt even put spotlights and stickers on my Mk3 Escort when I was 17 years old either, making me look very odd amongst my mates.

Try Dan at Duckworth Parts.
They're forum sponsors and often have good deals on parts for members.

Freelander 2s have the same mirrors, might broaden your search area. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
