Got hit - D4 bumper question for any parts suppliers here

My car was hit whilst parked in a car park today and now needs a new rear bumper. Rolling Eyes Typically, we head off on holiday tomorrow, but thankfully the damage won't prevent the car being driven, though the parking sensors are kaput.

I'm in Germany and having spoken to the local stealer was a bit surprised that they talked about the additional costs of having the new bumper sprayed to match the colour of the car. I had thought that colour coded parts were dispatched already sprayed. Is this wrong? Will LR Parts just send out an unpainted bumper that has to be sprayed, or should I be telling them to order the right p/n for a Stornaway Grey bumper, assuming there is such a p/n?

Grateful for any advice as I am concerned about their ability to colour match the colour of the car and would have thought it easier just to fit a painted bumper already.

Thanks. Thumbs Up

Your local stealer was correct, I had to have my D4 bumper replaced 4 days after I took delivery as someone trying to park hit it. Bumper comes primed only and will then need to be painted the correct colour.

Thanks for the info. V helpful. Thumbs Up

Do you recall what the cost was, Woody? They think in excess of 1K euros. Wondered if you could recall or ever saw the bill?

Just had a look and found the bill

VLR015463 Rear Bumper £285.21
VDOE500020 Insert (Tread Plate) £16.12
No part number - Tow electric cover £7.68
VDY500010 Retainer clips * 2 (for tow electric cover) £1.34

Painting cost £78.90

All these figures are +vat and these prices are from April 2011.

Hope that helps Thumbs Up
