Transmission Fault and fault codes

Hi

Travelled to France last week with a couple of mates for The Tour de France, drove down from the Midlands to the tunnel ok and an hour the other side. Got going the next morning and had "transmission fault, HDC off and Special Programmes off and F showing in the gear display. Turned off and on and carried on immediatley all seemed ok until it happened again, happened about 20 times all told but keeping below 70 seemed to do the trick.

Having searched the forum, i have checked both the battery and the alternator, alternator charges up to 14.3volt with some revs and climed reasonably slowly from 12.31volts from start up to 13.2volts at idle, does this seem ok? I also load tested the battery which seems to be ok.

Looked for fault codes and found P000E, P2290, P0089, could these be related to the problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as i am supposed to be going back down with the Family next week!!

Thanks

Thanks will try that, but do you think that the transmission fault etc would be related to the fuel filter?

Needs someone that knows what they're doing, I'm not techie. Nothing to say a D3 can only have one fault, transmission faults etc could be brake peddle switch or battery/alternator problem, or all 3.

Alternator output should be 15.3v ISTR, higher than. "normal" cars. Idle voltage also looks bit low. How old is the battery? They don't last for ever & 4 - 5 years is common time for them to start packing up.

Had this same issue on and off for over a year. Replacement fuel filter gave temporary respite but problem would recur after a few months. The latest episode, which required a recovery truck, was diagnosed by a LR dealership as a failure of both the LP and the HP fuel pumps and these have been now been replaced at some considerable cost.

All OK so far but lets wait and see!

My D3 HSE 2005 250K km, when running on a HW its engine varius rotation like 500rpm independently of the right foot action. When the msg Transmission Fault appeares and the D from Drive desapears from the dash, this up and down of engine rotation goes away. LR dealers say thats a gear box problem and waht to change it Censored
Any help is accepted. Very Happy

Thank you,

Tunicao
