7yr service/timing belts

I see a lot on here about how important the
7yr service and the timing belt replacement is.

Just wondering if anyone on here has had or knows
of someone who has had a belt break? Shocked It's better to Laugh than Cry

Heard of a belt break at 160-odd thousand miles

Have seen them as far as 135k and the belt still looked OK, visually at least...

Think of it this way, its £400 or so for a cambelt change, or £10,000 for an engine swap. The choice is yours Thumbs Up My D3 Build Thread

2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 S Manual Buckingham BlueDiscovery 3

I did a cambelt on a car that had done 141,000 on original belt - the belts looked fine but no idea when the tentioners may let go - that is the problem, not so much the belt snaping

I'm planning on getting mine done soon Thumbs Up
It's only done 39k but is 7 1/2 years old Rolling Eyes

I was just curious as to how much of a problem the belts were, or
maybe the tensioners are more the cause of failure?
Whatever the cause i agree with disco_mikey, better to pay £400 or so
than £10k for a new engine Shocked It's better to Laugh than Cry

The oil pump casing seems to be the cause of failure on 07/08MY cars.

As yours is an 05MY, you should be relatively safe Thumbs Up My D3 Build Thread
