actuator or EGR

Hi all
can anyone discribe the difference between failed EGR and failed turbo actuator or is it the same symptom, there is no smoke no engine management light, no fault codes stored, it would seem a lot to strip out the valves and turbo to find the cause, any ideas please

Have you checked for a split hose in the inter-cooler system and checked all joints are tight, if your not getting any fc's logged.

Hi Flack, yes ihave been all over it almost every day hoping to find something i am actually hoping fir the engine light to come on, it seems to be ok when cold for about a mile or 2 then below 2000rpm sometimes there is nothing then it changes down and throws you back in the seat

A faulty turbo should flag up an ESF, and a faulty EGR would log a fault code.

If they don't know how to check the operation of the EGR, or know how to check/compare the boost pressures, I think it's time to find a new indi...

The only other thing I have seen with a similar problem to this without any fc's logged is dirt in the low pressure fuel pump, I did a belt change not long ago and the fuel light was on and being in the middle of nowhere I did not take it for a run, then the morning after the owner rang me and said it was in limp mode intermittently, I went back checked it all out and could find nothing no fc's logged, but after a good thrashing down the road it was fine, so have you run low on fuel lately??.
