Discovery 3 intermittant starting fault

I changed the cam belt on the tdv6 and after two weeks of running ok we started getting cam sensor error codes after prolonged cranking due to non start. We changed the sensor but the engine will start ok for several times then just crank over, turn off the key and the next time it will start and run ok. driving wise everything is bang on. Fuel pressures are perfect. I stripped the front down again to recheck the belt and pins located easily in cams. I changed the battery due to low cranking voltages and checked the sensor wiring back to the ECU and found no faults. Earth leads have been checked and no other DTC s have been logged. Dealer had the car for a day but only confirmed all our work. I did the belt by the book, and have also checked the cam gear for any signs of damage where the sensor fits with out finding any problem. My next step is to test the signal output by diode from the cam sensor, but if anyone has had this fault any info would be appreciated

Why would you not do that anyway, before posting on a forum that you could not fix your customers car?

Did you take out the starter & lock the flyweel, this is critical to get the cam and therefore the injection timing spot on.
I have heard of several people having faults such as yours if the flwheel is not locked

Hi Its not a customers car, the query was aimed at saving time if anyone had had the same problem before. The way i wrote it up does seem to imply its a customers, but I`m just used to writing reports in that tense sorry, I have since checked cam and crank sensor wiring without finding anything, I`ll remove the starter next and check thanks.
