rear parking sensors into Kaymar rear bumper |
|
I have fitted a Kaymar rear bumper with spare wheel carrier and it has holes for the parking sensors. i have a low spec model D3 that doesn't have parking sensors, but can original ones be retrofitted - the bumper is designed to take the original LR system...?

Not done it myself but when I was enquiring about fitting front ones to a D3 with rear sensors, local dealer could see from vin number if any of the required modules where fitted at factory. Therefore you would have to check if any modules are fitted and wire loom? Might be far simpler to fit after Market system . Always worth an email to TLO to get cost of all the parts required and sure he could tell you if any park sensor modules is fitted to your car(from you vin number). A few mods... and keeping it all running...Faultmate MSV2

Why do you need parking sensors when you've got a bumper built like that? 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +
2022 Tesla Model Y LR... almost Carpathian Grey

I need something to fill in the bl**dy holes! Joking apart, even some scrap sensors would do, or maybe the correct sized grommets...
Question is this: most people seem to be put off fitting genuine LR sensors because of the additional cost of the bumper. As i already have a bumper, can i simply plug the sensors into an existing loom and hey presto...?

My 2005 V8 has had a Kaymar bumper with twin swingaway spare wheel carriers since 2007. I had the sensors coming on continuously whenever the care is put into reverse, ever since. I've finally decided I need to do something about it - its really irritating me now!
When put into reverse the parking sensors seem to pick up the proximity of the spare wheels and I just get a continuous sound. I removed the spare wheels, and got the same response.
Seems the sensors are picking up a soundwave echo from the bumper itself.
Has any other Kaymar bumper owner had this issue and resolved it? If so, please let me know what you did to successfully overcome it.
Cheers
