Engine Management Light
Hey guys, can someone shed any light on this!
I have a 2008 Discovery 3 SE TDV6, just bought it, it has been fine running up and down motorways not overheating or anything, however, since i got it the engine management light is on the dashboard until it starts and with the engine running you cannot turn the radio louder that 20 as it comes up Low Power Mode, any ideas?
However this morning i started the car as normal but the engine management light has stayed on. The only difference i have noticed is that if i "kick down" it doesnt move, just doesnt pick a gear or pull away sharp, after about 5/6 seconds of the pedel been down it does finally realise what i want it to do and flys off!
Any ideas? Nothing comes up on middle display just engine management light on?!
Any help or advise would be appriciated.
Regards
Mark

Low power mode needs checking with a multimeter as your alternator may not be great.
The EML and your symptoms sound like an EGR problem. Getting the fault codes read would be a good start.
Your profile says a 05 but your post says a 08 - which is it as it matters with the diagnostic!Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Ok, the EML on a 08 also suggests an EGR problem - unlike your 05 a quick EGR blank is not an option.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

No damage but it could leave you without much power at a critical moment - be careful pulling out of traffic or joining motorways.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

EML and lack of power definitely sounds like EGR fault - mine is currently in the garage having an EGR replaced after the same symptoms

Real pain not being able to blank EGRs on later (MY07+) cars. Not sure what happened to Pete Bell's software patch to allow EGR blanking either, although I never understood how it could be done on MY08+ cars given the DPF.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
