Hi all, does anyone know a good garage in the sutton area that can replace my handbrake module under warranty. I have a 55 Plate Disco 3 HSE Auto.
Last night out of the blue I heard a loud noise from the back of the car and then the park brake light came on and the car was stuck with the brakes on. I managed to release the parking brake by performing a hard reset and now the car is mobile, I just have to remember not to press the park brake button.
I called my local garage but he said he could not do the job because he cannot put the car to sleep and that I would need to visit a main dealer, is this true?
Thanks
Stephen

Thanks Mikey, do you think anything else could be wrong or from what I have said it will definitely be the Park Brake Module.

If its gubbed its gubbed BUT you could try following Bodsys brake bible here

and perhaps an adjustment would be a cost free excersise or go to a garage and pay Mega bucks
Best of luck

Depends on what the issue is. It may be a seized shoe, or just out of adjustment. As said, strip it down, and check. It costs nothing, and you will start getting to know your Disco intimately My D3 Build Thread

Just went to Landrover for a quick (FREE) diagnosis and they have confirmed what Mikey has advised that more then likely it needs the shoes to be checked, cleaned and a possible adjustment as this is the most common cause. Unfortunately they also charge £132 for the pleasure of doing the job. Local garage charges only £60 for the same work. I would try it myself but haven't got the time as I really need to finish decorating my daughter's room before Xmas (or the wife will kill me).
Will keep you updated on the progress.
