Urgent: need some advice on costs (engine)

Hopefully someone here can help me. My car died in May. The timing belt tensioner bolt broke and screwed my engine. See my old thread here: http://disco3.co.uk/forum/topic79654.html. Well basically after 6 months without a car we've had an additional inspection done on the bolt which has confirmed what LR said all along that the bolt was stretched. My lawyer needs to write to the garage that did the fitting one last time with a request to sort this out outside of court. I need to put in a request for the total costs involved. To this end I've got a couple of questions:

1) Do I need a whole new engine - LR inital report said new cyclinder head or pos new engine? If I don't necessarily need a whole new engine do you think I'm within my rights to ask for one? I.e. are there any potential pitfalls with this in terms of wear? What are the associated costs? Engine around 7,000 EUR incl labour? Can I ask for a new one and not reconditioned?

2) My car has been standing for 6 months. What other things might need checking? Obviously battery and tyres? Would the fuel need draining?

Replies asap would be massively gratefully received so we can get this thing moving after all these delays! ... and I've gone and booked a trip to Morocco with the car in April (whoops)....

EDIT: one complicaiton is that I'm not in the Netherlands atm and won't be back til mid-Jan. The car is currently at the garage that screwed it up.
