Suspension Wiring Loom?

Just had a call from the Land Rover dealership who say that they are still pushing on with sorting some sort of wiring issue out with our car - they say it's a long winded job and takes several hours but the wiring has to be replaced from the front of the Car (Suspension ECU) down through the dash, through the centre console and to one of the rear height sensors that was dodgy, and they have to "follow the original wiring loom spec."

Does anyone know what piece of wiring this is and whether faults in this department are common? And if this wasnt done under warranty if it would be a mega bucks job?

Thanks All,

Chris & Louise.

Yes. Have done this repair a few times.

Wiring is joined at the base of the A-pillar, and routed to the relevant height sensor.

Wouldn't say it is common, but not unheard of. Have the same issue with handbrake switch faults occasionally

Thanks.

Will this wiring replacement be only for the single offending height sensor then - i.e. it's not an entire loom, and so if the wiring for a different sensor fails, the whole job has to be repeated all the way back to behind the dash etc again?

Its not the entire loom that gets replaced. It's called a wiring "overlay" which basically cuts out whichever wires are at fault, and runs new wires in its place, and joined at either end.

It is done this way because it is usually easier and cheaper to replace the wiring, as opposed to removing the carpets, seats, trims etc to try and find an issue. Especially in the case of an intermittent fault Thumbs Up
