retrofit heated steering wheel / cool box / remote heating |
|
Hi
Looking at buying a MY13 Disco 4, and trawling the dealers to try and find one in the right combination of spec.
Some of the 'would likes' are:
Heated steering wheel
Remote controlled timed climate
cool box
Does anyone know the rough costs to buy the parts to make these separate elements work.
I'm happy to fit, but some I think may need enabling?
Trying to decide if I need to hang out for the right spec as it is silly money to add, or if I just find a good deal on the car I want and then retrofit these bits.
Thanks!

The timed climate can be enabled with a nanocom evo or an IIDTool. If you want to do it yourself, it's roughly around £400.- to buy one. Otherwise a site sponsor like geoff can do it for you. The remote can be retrofitted for around £200.- to £300.- including remote and receiver.
For the cool box there was a group buy last month, will be new around £170.-, but you can get one on ebay for around £100.- (if you search a while and get the bargain).

The heated steering wheel I'm not sure, I think there are good chances you can find a steering wheel in the buy&sell section here in the forum, but I have no idea what the costs are.

thanks
Just need to work out the steering wheel then, although being practical £500 will probably cover it? TDV6 HSE Lux (2014MY)

Hi Geoff
Can you PM me how much (or put it here) - how much is the actual wheel? You've done a few bits for me in the past down at Rustington...
Thanks

Do any of the site sponsors cover the Berkshire area for adding the remote functionality to a 3 month old MY14 HSE which already has timed climate.
Knew I should have added it as an option. Having to guess the night before what time I might be leaving in the morning is a pain in the posterior
Quick follow up question, in timed climate screen I have a manual heat and vent soft button which seem to be greyed out. I can set a timed option but there's no obvious way to set a vent now option for a hot summer day or pop out first thing in the morning and hit "heat now". The car is on a public road so obviously leaving the ignition on and engine running isn't an option.
I'm assuming the "pre heat" just uses the glow plugs and some diesel to generate some heat without actually starting the engine up.
For some reason there seems to be very little around timed climate - perhaps I'm just over thinking it

Those vent keys will not be greyed out if you turn the ignition off
The pre heat is an actual fuel burning heater Cheers Ian

Hmmmm... actually still can't trigger the manual settings, the boxes are still greyed out.
Walk to the car - open the door from proximity key, get in, close door, press start button enough to have the screen come up, select Extras, and then timed climate and I can set a single event or 7 day timer but can't select the manual vent/heat.
This is without touching the brake or starting the car, just a single press of the start button to bring the menu online.
Am I doing summat daft?

Don't press the start button Skully - that's effectively turning on the ignition; turn on the info system by pressing the radio on/off button instead and then you should be able to do it...
