It does that at daytime. But not at nighttime.
There is no way for me to turn off lights at nighttime when im using canadian drl mode.

When starting engine, dipped beam is Off.

Here in Canada, by law, we have to have Daytime Running Lights. I also think it is a good law.

After playing with the alternative settings, I decided that the Canadian arrangement was better than any EU setting, at least this side of the pond. The main difference, and as stated in many of the other posts, is that the lights are off when the transmissions selector is in Park and the engine is running. This also means the lights are off during the engine start sequence. This is an important distinction as in cold weather, one does not want to be trying to start the engine with the head lights on or when idling to warm up the vehicle.

In these situations, it is good that the headlights are off as that presumes more of the alternator output is available to recharge the battery or operate the heated windscreen, heated seats or the heater fans.

Off hand, what is the Police setting all about? That is one bunch that likes driving about at night with all lights off including having the interior lights deactivated as well.
