07 Model - Chipping

I will receive my 07 D3 in March and, as with my D2 would like to "chip" it if the benefits are tangible. Two questions, however. 1) I understand that LR re-mapped the 07 model. Did this significantly improve performance? 2) Has any one chipped a 2007 model yet? If so, was it worth it and which system was used?

Thanks

The 07MY engine mapping is a great improvement over the 05/6MY mapping, I understand that JE are able to remap the 07's, not sure about TC though

TC, JE and myself can chip all 07 cars Smile

The 07 models have different engine maps to improve response and refinement but they are still only 190bhp so a 'chip' will make a huge difference to your car

Can someone tell me what the standard TDV6 engine power and torque is for 05/06 and 07 models?
AND then what it is with 'standard' chips from TC, LRtuning and JE (if different)?
Lastly, what quoted fuel economy figures are for the above combinations?

And very last, what next Saturday nights lotto numbers are??

edited to change TDV5 to TDV6 Embarassed

I would suggest that you drive the 07 model for a bit and see how it performs then ask yourself, sat up as high as I am and with standard brakes, would I want to be going much quicker then decide. If you still want it chipped then go for it.

I had the 06 model and would have got it chipped if I wasn't having the new one. I phoned to arrange for my 07 to be chipped when I first had it and no one ever got back to me to arrange it, at 4000 miles i'm really glad I didn't have it done.

But, each to their own and thats just my opinion fwiw.

Well I'm not sure I could live with 190bhp, just isn't enough "poke" for overtaking. Which is important as I use my D3 for business. I only decided to buy a D3 after having carefully researched the "re-mapping" market.
Each to their own though.
I agree about the brakes, the re-mapped TDV6 is close to the limits of the brakes. I'd like the braking system fro the Supercharged RR's.

so a standard one at 110kmph brakes differently to a remapped one doing say 110kmph. just curious

No, but the re-mapped D3 has the ability to go faster. Thus, you might find yourself having to brake from a higher speed than you would in a standard mapped D3.
I'd actually like to see all D3's with bigger brakes, but I'm used to 6 pot AP Racing brakes, after which most other braking systems seem woefully inadequate.

O.K then, accelerate faster to the max. limited speed. Either way a faster vehicle tests the braking system more.

Having done 15k miles with a TC'd motor, I have to say that I doubt if I drive any faster than I would if it were not chipped. I simply get up to the same speed with less time and frustration. For this reason, I can't understand why you would need uprated brakes.

I think people seem to believe that chipping includes the drivers brain Confused

There is a world of difference between a race-track and the public highway. If having additional power and torque means that you need bigger brakes when the vehicle is being used solely on the public highway, then the standard car needs better brakes too. The power of the engine has no bearing on the 70-0mph time. If we were racing these things on a track then you would obviously need better brakes to cope with higher (legally unlimited) speeds attained over shorter distances. Rolling Eyes

I've already said that I think all D3's should have better brakes. Generally speaking, the faster a vehicle can accelerate the greater the need for better brakes.
It would appear that Land Rover agree. The RR/Sport has bigger brakes for each model see here http://www.landrover.com/gb/en/Vehicles/Ra...leheading6
Having a re-map doesn't make me drive any faster, just gives me the ability to overtake more safely.
Edited to add: Another very important factor (to me anyway) is the re-mapped TDV6 allows me to pull out at junctions & then accelerate to keep up with the flow of traffic. I find it annoying when a vehicle pulls out infront of me & then takes ages to get up tp speed.
