Getting out with a flat battery.

How do you get out of a Discovery with a flat battery? The central locking won't work, neither will the door handles, no windows, sunroof, etc, etc? I know you can get in via the passenger door but can you get out? I am pretty sure someone will go "You nugget, you have to do x" but I'm prepared to put up with the mocking to find out.

Cheers

Press the mechanical switch next to the inner door handle unless of course, you've broken in, and the car is super locked with the key. In which case, you don't have a chance....

Ah, are you saying you would be able to just unlock the doors if you were in the car when the battery died because you hadn't set the alarm like you do when you walk away from it?

Ben, the interior door handle is mechanical linked to the door lock. It is only disengaged if commanded to 'superlock' so getting in an out with a flat or disconnected battery is no drama; many of us do it all the time as the D3 battery has to be disconnected for a whole host of maintenance tasks.

In addition, in the event of a crash the car sends 2 unlock signals to all the doors using stored power and if the battery is still connected it even turns the interior lights on so that you can inspect your major wounds.

Being able to get out is a fundamental requirement.

Ah, that all makes sense. The battery was flat and I'd got in through the passenger door and, of course, none of the electrics worked including the doors. But being in the vehicle the vehicle would never be locked and alarmed. Thanks for all replies.

Act like your tailgate mechanism has failed and get out that way.
It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.
