Door Ajar E Brake Error - Intermittent Fault

Hi All,
We have a 2008 V6 LR3 which has an annoying intermittent fault that appears to orriginate in the central locking system.

At first it manifested itself with the alarm going off at all time of the night and the door ajar message appearing when getting into the car. The dealer replaced the LHS passenger door latch at some considerable cost to me and off we went.

Now, the alarm isn't going off anymore but we have an intermittent fault revolving around the drivers door (LHD) and the E Brake.
When you get in we get a message that the E Brake is on and the Driver's Door is ajar.
The E Brake will not release and no matter how many times you open and close the door, it still shows up as ajar.

The solution is to use the central consol lock button and then open the door from the inside using the handle. There is a sequence to how we push buttons and pull levers that is verging on the ridiculous, especially when you want to lock the car and leave in a hurry. Once this is done the problem with the E Brake and door ajar message goes away.

I have searched on the forum, but the posts all relate to lock failures. This might be one of those but I don't want to go to the expense of another replacement before checking out all the possibilities.

Hope someone can help

Jd

I had this before, but without the EPB lights on the dash.

Traced the fault to a poor Earth connection to the door. Same door as you are talking about, but on a RHD car.
The window was also very slow to go up and down, would be worth checking to see if yours is the same

Thanks Mikey,
Did you replace the lock mechanism or just clean and tighten the earth cable?
Can you tell me where abouts on the door the earth is?

Another garage had already replaced the door lock mechanism, but the fault was still present.

IIRC, the door itself is not earthed, the wiring runs through the rubber grommet and earths on the base of the A pillar.
