RPM dependent whine, EPB not quite fully engaging |
|
after a great day yesterday near Saverne plunging through water and mud (with road tyres, not that much worse than MTs except for side to side movement) noticed this morning a whining that changes pitch with gear changes (so not wifey). Its not a screech, but more than noticeable. Also noticed that EPB needs time to fully engage, sometimes forward creep (automatic trans.) occurs on the flat when stopped at lights.
I reckon this might be mud in the EPB related. Its going in for its first service June 02. Should it go earlier ? There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song

Took it in today for an inspection. Whine is coming from motor area at between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm also when stationary. Seems to come from cooling fan / airconditioning. Might be steering servo as it seemed to change slightly when turning steering wheel from side to side (when stationary ). No registered faults, no loss of power.
I think it might be the result of being in deep water thanks to super extended mode I managed to reverse out unaided There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song

It went into extended mode due to being in water??
How deep was it?? Were you wading or floating with the wheels dangling? 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

Going in the slope was about 10% with water depth at the front about 50cm. Then with 10m to go, nose dipped down sharply , air inlet still above water. I stopped immediately, put into reverse keeping revs up. Wheels were just spinning but still had contact with the bottom, no car movement, turned steering from side to side, no joy. Then super extended mode appeared on the display and the car began to reverse out . The water didnt look that deep and had tracks going in and out so I assumed all OK There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song

The whine is from the air-con compressor. The garage has a replacement booked for next Tuesday. There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song
