Triggers Brush 1, Engine 0

yep you wouldnt believe it, since our 45k service last thursday and even on the day of collecting him its been acting up a bit, fluctating revs on iddle, poor pick up under accelaration and higher than normal fuel consumption (around 60 miles a day).

Well having considered most of the issues being related to the auto box, he was back in yesterday to have the gearbox ecu reflashed, new front driveshaft, new gear selector and double check that the atf levels were up to spec, so you can imagine my suprise when at 11.00am ish today that the tech calls me in to the workshop to "show me something", appears the car was just being started in order that it can be have the height sensors recalibrated and the bleedin cars developed a knocking noise, without warning or fault codes prior to the events, (twas on IDS when it happened ready to go out to get some live readings in order to check the mass airflow sensor.

Long and short, engines FUBAR'd, cranks gone Big Cry

Slightly better news for me, a) did not need recovery, just a push Rolling with laughter b) was not towing another vehicle on the trailer c) I've got a brand new D4 (62plater) paid for by LRCC and the new engine/auxillaries under LR warranty - so lets hope this solves it Laughing

Blimey, that can't have been many miles on the new engine? How long do LR guarantee them for? Bit of luck that it's all covered and you've got a nice motor in the meantime! Thumbs Up

done 45k since install in late march, LR parts/labour is 12 months unlimited - hence getting westover to do the job in the first place.

TBH we've long suspected its a knackered engine when only weeks after we got him back it was dropping new injectors like teenagers drop empty drink cans Rolling with laughter

Problems is until the part goes fubar then LR will not do any pr-emptive replacement Big Cry

I think I can put up with the inconvience of driving around in a fully loaded 51K plus D4 HSE. (i've also taken off the "diesel only" sticker on the fuel flap just to keep the neighbours guessing Rolling with laughter )

Let me know when you're getting it back and if I'm not up in Bracknell I'll come and cheer Smile

tbh its gone quiet again at the auctions, the german boat only came on last weekend I believe so everyones concentrating on getting the new ones out for the end of the quarters figures so by the time the end of lease cars on site and the leasing companies done their paperwork, it should be back on the road Thumbs Up

update for yer, yes D4 very nice but only getting around 360 miles on a brim to brim - engine seems to take some time to bed in or its just bleedin thirsty.

as for mine, anticipating end of the week, have stuck a new HPfuel pump on this time which was only £200 more expensive for a OEM BRAND NEW ONE against the recon units as the surcharge on a recon unit is an amazing £350!!! whereas the new non recon was only £200 Whistle
